The statistical data regarding the potential pupil output from primary schools in the Castleknock area is set out on the attached table.
In addition to Castleknock College and Mount Sackville Convent pupils from Castleknock obtain places in a number of post primary schools in the general area. As pupils in a major urban or suburban area are not confined to any particular school catchment area, it would neither be feasible nor appropriate to attempt to provide the precise details requested by the Deputy.
Enrolment policy is primarily a matter for each school management; my Department's main responsibility is to ensure that, overall, there is adequate provision available at post primary level.
The most recent review of the Castleknock, Blanchardstown and Mulhuddart areas, consisting of a full examination of demographic factors, housing trends and the availability of post primary places in the general area, revealed that the provision of a post primary school in Castleknock is not warranted at the present time.
My Department will however, continue to review the position in Castleknock in the light of the most up to date statistical data for the area.
