197 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Education if she will give details on the delay in issuing draft sample papers for the junior certificate examination; and if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this delay is causing great concern among business studies teachers.
Sample questions in relation to a number of subjects in the junior certificate examination, including business studies, were issued to schools in February last and were discussed at inservice training courses for all teachers held on 15, 18, 22, 25 of February 1991. In the light of discussions at those courses, sample papers are being prepared and will be issued to schools in time for the coming school year. With regard to business studies in particular, officials of my Department met recently with representatives of the Business Studies Teachers Association in order to discuss the arrangements for that examination in the junior certificate.
