Vol. 408 No. 4

Local Government Bill, 1991: Allocation of Time.

I move:

That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders—

(1) the hour at which business is to be interrupted on Tuesday, 14th May, Wednesday, 15th May and Thursday, 16th May, shall be 10.30 p.m., 10.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. respectively; and

(2) in the case of the Local Government Bill, 1991

(a) the proceedings on the Third Stage of the Bill, if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 15th May, and

(b) the Fourth and Fifth Stages of the Bill shall be taken on Thursday, 16th May, and the proceedings thereon, if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 4.30 p.m. on that day

by one Question in each case which shall be put from the Chair and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only amendments set down by the Minister for the Environment.

I move the following amendment:

To delete paragraph 2.

In view of the earlier discussions it would seem appropriate that the guillotine dimensions to this motion should now be removed.

Deputy McCartan appreciates that his entitlement at this stage is merely to move his amendment. I will now put the question on his amendment.

Question put: "That the words proposed to be deleted stand."
