44 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Marine the steps he intends to take to enable the fishing boats at Cobh, County Cork, to avail of ice-making equipment sanctioned by Bord Iascaigh Mhara; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The provision of an ice plant at Cobh is considered to be a priority both by my Department and BIM. The proposed building of the ice plant is, however, subject to obtaining planning permission for a suitable site. Following rejection by the local authority of the Cobh Fishermen's Association planning application, the matter has now been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
