75 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the sum of money he has allocated to each health board for the replacement of ambulances and medical equipment; and if he will allow the use of leasing methods of purchase, if adequate funds are not forthcoming.
Annual allocations as notified to health boards do not contain specified amounts for expenditure of the type referred to. Each board set their own spending priorities on the basis of overall operational needs. Health boards are empowered to lease equipment should management feel that this is the most appropriate method of providing the service required.
