Vol. 409 No. 5

Written Answers. - Smoking Regulations in Hospitals.

John Ellis

Ceist:

117 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Health if his Department have a policy with regard to cigarette and pipe smoking in hospitals; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Tobacco (Health Promotional Protection) Regulation, 1990, lists certain designated areas in public places where smoking is either prohibited or restricted. Article 7 of the regulations provides for the designation of non-smoking areas in hospitals and other health facilities. It is a matter for the hospital authorities to designate the areas they consider most appropriate.
