Vol. 409 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin AIDS Alliance Funding.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

118 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Health the reason Government funding has not been provided for the Dublin AIDS Alliance; and if he will consider providing such funding so that this group can continue its work to (1) promote HIV-AIDS awareness and (2) provide support for people affected by HIV-AIDS.

Over the past number of years I have funded a range of services provided by voluntary agencies in the AIDS field by way of national lottery funding. My Department are currently carrying out an evaluation of all the voluntary agencies engaged in the AIDS and related drug abuse fields. Future decisions on funding for these organisations will be taken in this context.

I have, at the moment, no application for funding from the Dublin AIDS Alliance. Should they make an application, my Department would be prepared to give the matter consideration.
