Vol. 409 No. 9

Written Answers. - ISPCC Grant Allocation.

William Cotter

Ceist:

120 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Health if he will pay the balance of the 1991 grant allocation to the ISPCC forthwith; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Prior to this year the ISPCC received an annual grant-in-aid from my Department towards their headquarters expenses in addition to grants from the health boards in which they are active. The ISPCC were the only voluntary body in the child care area who received a grant-in-aid direct from my Department.

This year, in order to bring the society into line with arrangements which apply in relation to the funding of other child care bodies, arrangements were made to have responsibility for the funding of their headquarters expenses transferred to the Eastern Health Board. The moneys will be paid to the society by the board in accordance with the arrangements which apply generally to such payments.

Both the society and the Eastern Health Board have been informed of the revised arrangements and the health board's allocation has been adjusted to take account of the increased expenditure.

I understand from the board that payment in respect of the first half of this year has been issued to the society.
