Vol. 409 No. 9

Written Answers. - Retirement Pension.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

51 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if it is possible for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 to be given credit for retirement pension purposes for his entire service in the public service including service in a State-sponsored body (details supplied).

The person referred to by the Deputy had some 14 years' broken service with CIE between 1944 and 1961. This service was in a temporary capacity and was not reckonable for pension purposes. If the person had been reemployed by CIE after 1961, only a portion of his previous service could have become pensionable under the rules of the CIE scheme. In accordance with the Public Sector Transfer of Service Scheme, he will be given credit for that portion under the pension scheme of his present employment.
