Vol. 409 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dental Benefit Claims.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

85 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether there are delays in payments under treatment benefit to dentists in north County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Dental practitioners are normally paid once a month in respect of dental benefit claims received during the previous month. On occasions it can happen that claims submitted late in a month may not be included in the following month's payment. However, the incidence of this is small and any claims not processed in time for inclusion in a particular month's payment would, of course, be paid the following month.

There are no undue delays in the processing of payments to dentists under the treatment benefit scheme. If the Deputy is aware of any particular case where a dentist is experiencing difficulty, I will be glad to have the matter examined on receipt of details.
