Vol. 409 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Kilkenny Roads Programme.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

93 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the progress, if any, which has been made in relation to the Thomastown by-pass in County Kilkenny.

Kilkenny County Council submitted proposals to my Department for a by-pass of Thomastown in June 1990 and these have been noted. The possible timing of the scheme will be considered when the next operational programme for roads is being prepared for the period after 1993.

Ceist:

94 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the progress, if any, which has been made in relation to the Callan by-pass in County Kilkenny.

In July 1990, my Department approved preliminary design proposals submitted by Kilkenny County Council for a by-pass at Callan. I understand that the council are now preparing a compulsory purchase order for the acquisition of land for this scheme.

Ceist:

95 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the advance progress which has been made in approving and allocating finance for the realignment of the national primary road from Kilkenny city to Waterford city; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Realignment works were carried out some time ago on the N10 between Kilkenny and Danesfort and funds were allocated to the local authority to carry out an aerial survey of the remainder of the route with a view to other improvement works. There are no proposals at present before my Department for further works on the route, nor are any major works scheduled for this route in the operational programme on peripherality.
