79 Mr. Hyland asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if his attention has been drawn to the fact that 25 families in the Dromakeen area of Birr, County Offaly, cannot receive RTÉ 1 television; and if he will take steps to ensure the provision of a satisfactory service.
This is primarily a matter for RTÉ. RTÉ accept that reception of RTÉ 1 in that area is poor. RTÉ advise that work is now in progress on a new aerial system at the Maghera transmitter which will increase the output power of RTÉ 1 and a significant improvement in picture quality will be noticeable. This work will be completed by the end of August.
