Vol. 410 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dental Treatment.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

126 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 who applied two years ago to the Eastern Health Board for dental treatment will receive treatment.

I understand from the Eastern Health Board that this person was examined by the board's dental services in December 1990. She was offered a treatment plan and was asked to contact her clinic in January 1991. According to the board's records she did not make further contact with the clinic.

If she is currently in pain, emergency treatment can be provided immediately by the board. If she now wishes to avail of the treatment plan offered, she should get in touch with her local clinic.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

127 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Cavan will be called to have orthodontic treatment in view of the fact that she has heard nothing regarding her treatment since October 1990; and if he will outline the reason for the delay.

I understand from the North Eastern Health Board that this person has been assessed for the provision of orthodontic treatment in accordance with guidelines drawn up by my Department and she has been listed for treatment. However, some oral surgical procedures must first be carried out.

The child is due to be assessed by the Dublin Dental Hospital for these surgical procedures in August next. The health board will be in a position to proceed with her orthodontic treatment when her oral surgery is satisfactorily completed.
