Vol. 411 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Kilkenny Company.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

94 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the reason for the long delay in having a company (details supplied) in County Kilkenny restored in view of the fact that this particular company was in fact dissolved in error by the Companies Office in 1990.

I am informed by the registrar of companies that, in the normal course, having followed certain procedures and believing that the company was no longer trading, the registrar struck off the name of the company to which the Deputy refers and the company was dissolved by notice in Iris Oifigiúil on 29 June 1990. Since incorporation in 1985, the company had failed to submit an annual return as required under the Companies Acts. I understand that the company's solicitor contacted the registrar in July 1991. Once the company fulfils its legal obligation to submit returns, there are procedures to restore it to the register. I am informed that these returns are still outstanding.
