Vol. 411 No. 6

Written Answers. - Mitchelstown (County Cork) Vacancy.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

118 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Health when a vacancy for a general practitioner in the general medical services scheme in Mitchelstown, County Cork, was advertised; the reason an appointment has not yet been made; the number of persons to whom the post has been offered; and if he will confirm that the vacancy will be filled in the immediate future.

I have had inquiries made of the Southern Health Board and I have been informed that this position was advertised on 1 March 1991 and interviews were held in June. I understand that five candidates were placed on a panel. The post was offered to the first two candidates but they refused it. The board have offered the post to the third placed candidate and are awaiting a response to this offer. The board expect that the vacancy will be filled in the near future.
