Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Intervention Buying.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

122 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the amount, in Irish money, which was spent on intervention buying this year to date in comparison with last year; and if he will further outline the current levels of intervention stocks.

The amount spent on intervention buying to end September 1991 was £660 million compared with £465 million for the same period in 1990.

Total intervention stocks of all products amounted to some 600,000 tonnes at end September 1991, compared with 250,000 tonnes at the same time in 1990.
