Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dental and Orthodontic Treatment.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

171 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the number of dentists and orthodontists currently available through the Eastern Health Board in the North Strand Health Centre, Dublin 1; the number of children awaiting treatment there; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The number of dentists employed by the Eastern Health Board for routine treatment at North Strand Health Centre is one full-time and one for three days per week.

There is no waiting list for routine dental treatment for children at North Strand. They are treated as they attend. In addition to the dentists providing routine dental treatment there are three dentists with specialist qualifications in orthodontics providing orthodontic treatment at North Strand Health Centre.

All cases scheduled for orthodontic treatment by the board are placed on a composite waiting list and treatment is carried out at a number of centres including the North Strand Health Centre. No separate waiting list is maintained in respect of the North Strand Health Centre.
