175 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health whether Statutory Instrument No. 200 of 1991 is implemented by health boards; if he will outline the reductions which will ensue to people in receipt of disabled person's maintenance allowance; if he intends to rectify this situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1991 (S.I. No. 200 of 1991) came into operation on 21 July 1991.
I am currently reviewing the situation of couples who prior to 21 July 1991 were in receipt of DPMA at a rate higher than that permissible under the regulations. In the meantime I have requested that there be no reduction in the amount of DPMA paid to such couples.
