Written Answers. - Teacher Appointment.

Alan M. Dukes

Ceist:

204 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education when her Department will make a decision in response to a submission lodged in May 1991 by the parents' association of Ballyowen Meadows special school, Balgaddy, Lucan, County Dublin for the provision of an additional teacher to the school.

Ballyowen Meadows special school has at present the full complement of teachers under the pupil teacher ratio which applies to this school.

The parents' association is being so informed. I will continue to keep the needs of this school under review.

Ceist:

205 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education when it is expected that her Department will make a decision in relation to the appointment of a teacher for the special class in Scoil Mhichil Naofa, Athy, County Kildare for children of travelling families in view of the fact that the school authorities first made an application for such a post over six months ago.

In response to an application received last month, I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department has sanctioned the temporary appointment of a teacher for a special class for travellers' children in the school in question. The further needs of the school will be kept under review.
