Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kilkenny School Repairs.

John Browne

Ceist:

37 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Education when the badly needed repairs will be carried out to the girls' school in St. John's Parish, Kilkenny.

An agreement has been reached with the school authorities to amalgamate the three existing schools in St. John's Parish, Kilkenny into two schools and to establish them on the basis of junior and senior co-education schools. The senior co-ed school will be accommodated in the existing boys school and this will necessitate an extension of two permanent classrooms and some ancillary accommodation. It is intended that the junior co-ed school will be accommodated in the existing girls and infants schools which will need upgrading and general improvements. The project for the schools is at the initial stage of planning.
