Vol. 412 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driving Test Statistics.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

93 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the number who presented themselves for driving tests in County Westmeath in the years (1) 1989 (2) 1990 and (3) to end September, 1991; if he will further outline the number of (a) passes and (b) failures in each period.

In the nine months 1 January to 30 September 1991, 1,289 applicants passed their driving tests at centres in County Westmeath and 935 failed, making a total of 2,224 tested. Separate statistics on a county basis are not available for previous years as the system had not then been computerised. The amount of time and effort required at this stage to compile the information would not be justified.
