Vol. 412 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tourist Information Distribution.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

33 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Finance whether the Office of Public Works have any plans to alter their regulations in relation to the distribution of information on various tourist facilities in an area in view of the fact that, at the present time, visitors to one tourist attraction cannot obtain information about others which may be located nearby; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At each of the sites where the Office of Public Works have a guide-information service in operation, information in relation to other Office of Public Works sites is distributed. The Office of Public Works have plans to expand this service by the introduction of a computerised multimedia service, a prototype of which was installed in Dublin Castle during the summer. It is, of course, the responsibility of the regional tourism organisation to promote all visitor facilities in its area.
