63 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Finance if he has applied for EC Structural Funds for the upkeep and maintenance of county and rural roads other than national, primary or secondary roads; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
EC structural funding for road improvements in Ireland in the period to 1993, including improvements to county and rural roads, is being provided under the following three programmes: the peripherality operational programme, the rural development operational programme and the interreg programme.
Road maintenance and upkeep do not qualify for assistance from EC Structural Funds.
