Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Health and Safety Regulations.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

169 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Energy if his Department and the State agencies under his control have prepared a safety statement as required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989.

My Department are at present involved in the consultative process with staff representatives as required by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989, with a view to producing the required safety statement.

With regard to the State agencies under my control, compliance with the Act is a matter relating to the day-to-day operation of these agencies and does not come within my direct area of responsibility. However, I am informed that safety statements are in place in the Electricity Supply Board, Bord na Móna, Coillte Teoranta and the Nuclear Energy Board and that safety statements are in preparation in Bord Gáis Éireann and the Irish National Petroleum Corporation.
