Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

266 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if he will indicate which school building projects benefited from the grant of £3,000,000 from the national lottery referred to in the Estimates for the Public Service 1991; if he will indicate the amount of the grant in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A footnote to the Abridged Estimate Volume for 1991 indicated that the provision for the building, equipping and furnishing of national and special schools included a sum of £3 million from the proceeds of the national lottery. This was reduced to £2 million in the revised Estimate Volume published after the budget. This £2 million was in respect of the capital requirements of the special schools for children in care. Two hundred and fifty thousand punts was in respect of miscellaneous capital works at Trinity House, Lusk, County Dublin, Finglas Children's Centre and St. Joseph's Special School, Clonmel, County Tipperary. The balance of £1.75 million was allocated to the new Oberstown Boys' and Girls' Centres, Lusk, County Dublin.
