291 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if, in view of the closure of Century Radio, he will now review his attitude towards the development of Cork Local Radio which has provided such an excellent service in the greater Cork area.
Under section 4 of the Radio and Television Act, 1988, it is the function of the Independent Radio and Television Commission to arrange for the provision of independent radio services including a national independent radio service and one national television service.
The closure of the national independent radio service does not have any bearing on the services provided by RTE.
