37 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to sanction a caretaker for Mary Queen of Angels school in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 where (1) 532 pupils are on the roll and (2) the school is without a caretaker since 1985; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
283 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education when a full-time caretaker will be appointed to look after the needs of 532 pupils at Mary Queen of Angels national school, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 37 and 283 together.
Arising out of the provisions in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, my Department are currently considering the details of a scheme to increase the number of caretakers and clerical assistants in schools. I am not yet in a position to say if Mary Queen of Angels school in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, will obtain a caretaker under the new scheme until it becomes operational.
