42 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the number of primary teachers who participated in his Department's approved in-service courses during (1) 1987, (2) 1988, (3) 1989, (4) 1990 and (5) 1991; and the duration of these courses.
The following number of primary teachers participated in the Department's approved in-service courses: 1987, 9,259; 1988, 9,022; 1989, 9,520; 1990, 9,689, 1991, total figures not yet available — it is estimated that the numbers would be in excess of 9,700.
Courses are usually of one week's duration. One day seminars held in the Autumn of 1988 and 1989 are not included in the above.
