Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Corporation Tax.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

109 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Finance the portion of the increase in corporation tax, as published in Iris Oifigiúil of 19 November 1991, which is attributed to activities in the Financial Services Centre; and if he will categorise the tax impositions under which it arises.

It is estimated that by mid October, 1991 companies operating in the International Financial Services Centre had paid an additional £29 million in corporation tax in 1991 as compared with the same period in 1990. This tax is almost exclusively payable at the 10 per cent rate covering certified activities within the International Financial Services Centre.

It is not possible to identify separately other taxes such as companies' capital duty paid by companies operating in the centre. Any such receipts would be included under the heading for "stamps" in Iris Oifigiúil.

P. J. Sheehan

Ceist:

110 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive a VAT rebate on farm development grants.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the claim in question, which was received on 15 November, 1991 has now been passed for payment and that a cheque for £994.10, will issue shortly in full settlement.
