Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under standing order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Therese Ahearn — The urgent need for funding to establish a residential and activity centre in Clonmel for severely handicapped young people; Deputy Gay Mitchell — whether the Minister for the Environment will introduce a housing sales scheme for local authority tenants since such tenants in Dublin have not been in a position to apply to purchase their houses since 1988; Deputy O'Shea — The action the Minister for Industry and Commerce proposes to take to protect existing employment or to provide alternative employment for the employees of Ja-Mont in Waterford; Deputy Toddy O'Sullivan — The steps that are being taken to ensure that the threatened ESB strike over the Christmas period by clerks, technicians and supervisors is prevented; Deputy Deenihan — The urgent need to provide an extension to Tralee CBS, County Kerry, because of serious overcrowding; Deputy Deasy — The restructuring of staffing levels in Teagasc; Deputy Ellis — The position in connection with the proposed closure of the Teagasc Research Centre at Ballinamore, County Leitrim; Deputy Connor — when the Minister for the Environment intends to sanction the plans for the proposed new bridge on the River Suck at Athleague,

County Roscommon; Deputy Sherlock — The conditions in Ballydaniel national school, County Cork and the need to have tenders invited urgently for the school; Deputy McCartan — The need for the Minister for the Environment to provide a sewerage system to St. Michael's cottages and Balgriffin Park, Dublin 13, as they are the last scheme of houses in Dublin city which do not have a sewerage system; Deputy Rabbitte — The concerns expressed by the free legal aid centres and the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed about workers on social employment schemes and the Workers Protection (Regular Part-Time Employees) Act, 1990; Deputy Byrne — The need for the Dublin Dental Hospital to be moved to a new building for fire safety reasons and to meet the demands of the public; Deputy Garland — The scandalous position of excessive Civil Service overtime as highlighted by the annual report of the Comptroller and Auditor General in the context of 260,000 people unemployed; Deputy Flaherty — If the Minister for Energy will outline the efforts which have been made to resolve the industrial relations problem in the ESB, which is especially critical in view of the time of year and the severity of the disruption of services earlier this year; Deputy Jim Mitchell — Anomalies now evident in the planned draw on Friday next for the issuing of taxi licences following a recent announcement by the Minister for the Environment; Deputy Enright, The closure of the horticulture research stations.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies; Toddy O'Sullivan, Gay Mitchell and Joe Sherlock.
