Vol. 414 No. 1

Milk (Regulation of Supply) Bill, 1991: Motion to Discharge Order for Second Stage.

I move: "That the Order for Second Stage of the Milk (Regulation of Supply) Bill, 1991, be discharged and that the Bill be withdrawn."

Will the Minister explain what it is proposed to do with those Bills?

I understand it is to facilitate the Bills being introduced in the Seanad.

We were told only yesterday that the Milk (Regulation of Supply) Bill would be taken next Tuesday. May I ask the Minister why the Bill is being withdrawn today?

It has been agreed by the Fine Gael Whip, and the other Whips, that the Bill be withdrawn and transferred to the Seanad.

(Limerick East): Is that not an open admission that the Government have failed to provide sufficient work for both Houses of the Oireachtas? May we have a commitment from the Government that sufficient legislation will be introduced to occupy both Houses of the Oireachtas?

There is too much legislation.

The people on the Opposition Benches do very little on Fridays as can be seen from the empty benches.

We will be watching for Deputy Calleary every Friday from now on. There will be no meetings for him in Mayo next Friday.

Deputy Bruton should not be concerned about me. He has been missing for a while.

Question put and agreed to.
