Written Answers. - Safeguarding of Jobs.

Ceist:

81 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been drawn to the fact that 150 jobs are at stake and in danger at a firm (details supplied) in Dublin 22; and if he will intervene or arrange for the appropriate agencies to provide the necessary assistance to keep this company operational to preserve the jobs at risk; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The matter raised by the Deputy relates to the day-to-day responsibilities of the Industrial Development Authority and is not one in which I have a direct function.

Nevertheless, I am aware of the situation to which the Deputy refers, and I can assure the Deputy that the IDA are keeping in close touch with the company during this difficult period to ensure every possible effort is made to safeguard jobs at the plant.
