Vol. 414 No. 6

Written Answers. - Driving Test Fee.

Edward Nealon

Ceist:

130 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider waiving the £40 fee for an obligatory driving test for each member of a class of 24 now taking part in an EC sponsored FAS course in heavy goods vehicle driving in County Sligo; and if, in view of the hardship that this £40 cost would involve for each student at the end of a 20-week course, many of whom are based away from home, he will consider substituting a modest group rate.

The Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1989, prescribe the fees payable by applicants for driving tests and it is not open to me to set these aside in individual cases.
