159 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if she will outline (1) the number of cases of HIV virus in infants notified to her Department in each of the years 1987 to 1991 and (2) the number of infant deaths from the HIV virus in those years.
A total of 79 HIV positive infants have been reported to my Department. Of these, a total of nine cases of AIDS in infants has been reported, of whom six have died. The following is the information requested in respect of the period 1987 to 1991:
