Ceist:160 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if she proposes to introduce legislation to make changes in areas such as (1) the registration, (2) the education and (3) fitness to practice of doctors.
Written Answers. - Medical Practitioners Act Review.
As announced by my predecessor, the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 is at present being reviewed. Submissions have been sought from all of the professional and other groups with an interest in the matters regulated by the Act. Several submissions have already been received. These will be discussed with the relevant interests and with the Medical Council. When that process is complete, appropriate legislation will be brought forward.
