Written Answers. - Departmental Budget Allocations.

Ceist:

176 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if she will give details of (1) the budget notified by her Department for 1992 to each health board, voluntary hospital or other agency and (2) the way in which this compares with the actual spending in 1991 of each body, including any over-run on the notified budget.

The 1991 original and revised allocations, and 1992 original allocations to health boards and voluntary hospitals are set out in the tabular statement which will be circulated in the Official Report. The 1992 allocations are exclusive of the cost of certain pay adjustments which may arise during this year, notably general pay increases which may be payable under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress and arrears of pay due to medical consultants.

Revised 1991 allocations and allocations for 1992 in respect of homes for the mentally handicapped funded by my Department, will issue shortly. As health agencies operate on the basis of income and expenditure, the precise out-turn for 1991 has yet to be determined. My Department are in regular contact with the agencies in this regard.
