Vol. 416 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Teaching Post.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

104 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if a school (details supplied) in County Cork is due to lose a teaching post; and if so, if he will reconsider the matter in view of projected enrolments for the coming year.

The staffing of national schools for a particular year is determined by the enrolment in the school on 30 September of the previous year.

The school in question has a valid enrolment of 93 on 30 September 1991 which under the current staffing schedule warrants a staff of principal and two assistants for the 1992-93 school year. The third assistant presently serving in the school will be placed on the redeployment panel.

The only deviation from this agreement is in the case of the maximum class size guidelines set out by my Department being breached. The position in this school can be looked at by my Department in September 1992 in this regard.
