170 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if he will pay a grant towards the rent of premises to a school (details supplied) in County Waterford; if he will outline the up-to-date position regarding the decision of his Department concerning the offer made by this school for a two acre site at Crobally, Tramore in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The rental of temporary premises for primary school purposes is normally grant-aided by my Department, provided certain conditions relating to the rented accommodation are met.
My Department is not satisfied that the accommodation in question meets these conditions. However, the matter will receive further consideration in the light of an inspector's report recently submitted.
The question of according permanent recognition to the specified school is under active consideration at present. As it is expected to have this matter satisfactorily resolved in the near future, my Department is now actively pursuing the acquisition of a permanent base for the school.
