Vol. 417 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Lottery Fund Allocations.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

98 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the amount of national lottery funds dispersed by his Department in 1991 to counties Limerick, Cork and Mayo.

My Department is responsible for a number of schemes of support for voluntary and community groups which are funded from the national lottery. Allocations under these schemes are not made on a county basis. They depend on the number and nature of the applications received, with priority for areas of greatest disadvantage. Allocations are made following consultations with the relevant health boards, where appropriate, and discussions with the voluntary and community based groups involved.

Details of grants approved in the MidWestern, Southern and Western health board areas are as follows:

Mid-Western Health Board, £46,980 — 7 under the scheme of Grants to Voluntary Bodies, £19,530; 17 under the scheme of Grants for locally-based Women's Groups, £27,450.

Southern Health Board, £135,450 — 25 under the scheme for locally-based Voluntary Bodies, £102,900; 32 under the Scheme of Grants for locally-based Women's Groups, £32,550.

Western Health Board, £145,650 — 13 under the scheme of Grants to Voluntary Bodies, £94,280; 41 under the scheme of grants for locally-based Women's Groups, £51,370
