Vol. 417 No. 6

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing Lists.

Séamus Cullimore

Ceist:

123 Mr. Cullimore asked the Minister for the Environment if he has any new proposals to reduce applicants for housing on local authority waiting lists; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I refer to the new measures announced in A Plan for Social Housing which, together with the traditional local authority housing programme and new lettings arising from vacancies in the existing housing stock, should cater for the housing needs of some 7,000 households in 1992 compared to some 5,100 in 1991.

A Housing Bill to be introduced shortly will make statutory provision, as necessary, for the measures in the plan.
