Vol. 417 No. 6

Written Answers. - Kildare Sewerage Schemes.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

134 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the number of submissions he has received from Kildare County Council in respect of, (a) an extension to existing sewerage schemes, (b) the augmentation of sewage treatment plants and (c) the provision of new sewage treatment plants; if he will further outline his intentions with a view to implementation of the proposals in the current year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have recently made allocations totalling £885,000 to Kildare County Council to finance new sewerage schemes for Lower Liffey Valley (Collinstown extension), Newbridge, Maynooth and Kill/Johnstown.

Proposals have been submitted by the council for the following sewerage schemes which are at various stages of planning: Robertstown sewerage scheme, (New scheme at tender stage); Celbridge sewerage scheme (Augmentation scheme at contract document stage); Ticknevin sewerage scheme, (New scheme at prelimianry report stage).

I cannot say when a decision will issue on these proposals.
