Written Answers. - Health Board Tender.

Ceist:

19 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been brought to the fact that the Southern Health Board, in inviting tenders for 1,400 square yards of carpet, specified Scottish Stoddard 8020 carpet, thereby excluding Irish manufacturers from the contract, and also that only three suppliers were invited to tender and one subsequently offered; and if he approves of such action.

The tendering arrangements for the supply and fitting of this carpet are a matter for the Southern Health Board. My Department have no direct involvement in operational matters of this kind but inquiries have been made of the board and I understand that the Chief Executive Officer has been in touch with the Deputy on the issue.
