Vol. 417 No. 9

Written Answers. - Student Assessment.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

207 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education the reason an assessment due to be carried out in September 1991 for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford has not taken place; and if he will inform Deputy Deasy when this assessment will be carried out.

I understand that one of my Department's psychologists discussed the matter with the pupil's mother in September 1991. A course of action was recommended in the context of the pupil attending a particular second level school. In the event, the pupil was enrolled in another school.

My Department's psychologist will be available to discuss the matter again with the parent if she so desires, and arrangements for such discussion can be made by the parent through the authorities of the child's school.
