Vol. 417 No. 9

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

214 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if he will review the income limits of students in St. Michael's Home Training Unit who engage in part-time work and are entitled to earn while retaining their disabled person's maintenance allowance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Recipients of disabled person's maintenance allowance may earn up to £30 per week for rehabilitative employment without it affecting their entitlement to the full allowance. This sum is revised annually in line with increases in the rate of the allowance. I am not aware of any trainees in St. Michael's House who are in receipt of earnings in excess of £30 per week.
