Ceist:53 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the provision of a regional technical college for County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department are satisfied that the projected increase in third-level places can be met most effectively through the continued development of the existing network of colleges. Provision for such development is detailed in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.
As a result there are no plans at present for the development of additional regional technical colleges.
