129 Mrs. T. Ahern asked the Minister for Energy if he intends to investigate the possibility of re-opening Ballingarry Mines in County Tipperary in view of its employment potential; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
A State mining lease was granted to a company in respect of the Ballingarry Mines in 1989. Despite significant investment the company is not yet in a position to bring the mine into full production. While the matter is essentially a commercial one for the company in question, I am keeping the situation under review.
