Michael Finucane
Ceist:121 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the status of an application for a higher education grant for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick which has been recommended by Limerick County Council and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 116 and 121 together.
The cases in question have been referred to my Department by the relevant local authorities, who are statutorily entrusted with the administration of the higher education grants scheme, in relation to a general policy issue.
A decision will be conveyed to the local authorities as soon as possible on the policy issue and they will then consider the applications in the normal way in the context of that policy.
