Vol. 418 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Ceist:

150 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork, who has seriously impaired sight in one eye, due to a serious infection which cannot be rectified through surgery or laser treatment, has been denied the disabled person's maintenance allowance from the health board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Payment of disabled person's maintenance allowance in any individual case is a matter for decision by the relevant health board. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, Southern Health Board with a request that he reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
