Vol. 418 No. 4

Written Answers. - Optical Treatment Application.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

152 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will reinvestigate the situation whereby persons (details supplied) in County Cork have been refused optical treatment by the Southern Health Board even though their widowed mother has a medical card and in view of the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 130 on 11 March 1992 in which it was stated that the Southern Health Board had seen both persons on 1 June 1989 and they were then sent a recall appointment in July 1989 which did not happen at the time, the reality being that they got glasses in 1989 and were told that a new appointment was not necessary but that they would need further treatment in 1992 and the appointments in 1989 have no relevance to these latest requests; and if he will now attempt to clarify the administrative mix up within the health board system.

I understand from the Southern Health Board that an appointment has been arranged for both the persons mentioned to attend at the Cork Regional Hospital, out-patients department on Wednesday 6 May 1992.
