Written Answers. - Cork Buildings Refurbishment Funding.

173 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the reply given to parliamentary question No. 203 of 3 December 1991 in which the Deputy asked if he would sanction finance for Cork Corporation to proceed with refurbishment works at Ryans Buildings, and also in view of the fact that he said that an application for funding for Ryans Buildings was under examination in December 1991 by his Department and that a decision on its eligibility would be made as soon as possible, he will make a statement outlining if that decision has now been made.

Since last December, there have been ongoing discussions and correspondence between my Department and the corporation in this matter and a decision will issue shortly. Last, February, an allocation of £3.1 million was made to the corporation in respect of the estates designated under the remedial works scheme.
